Harte
Lounge Chair
Trust the Triangle...
Focus: Furniture Design, Woodworking, CMF Development, Ergonomics.
Date: Spring Semester 2024
Note: Thank you, Brian Harte, for whom this chair was named. I, along with many others, wouldn't be the furniture makers we are today without your compassion, endless wisdom, and wit.

Iteration #1
As an aspiring furniture maker, I knew I wanted the assignment of having to build only one chair to be iterative, so I built 3.5 in a semester. I figured building multiples would not only help me hone my technique but also help me develop my preferences and opinions on furniture making along the way.
Iteration #2
Handmade slated seat comprised entirely of American cherry wood using half laps, bridle, and dowel joinery.

Iteration #3
Satin-finished American cherry floated over tiger maple, using aluminum hardware. The joinery includes half-lapping and brindle joints.

Iteration #4 (In Progress)
Rift cut white oak.
